By pass switches
Question:
What are some
examples of a bypass switch?
Answer:
A bypass switch.
This
would be put in parallel with a device to switch it off when a certain condition was
reached.
(a) A thermostat in an electric iron could short out the heating element when a
certain temperature was reached
(b) A light sensitive resistor would be put in parallel with
a street lamp so that when there was enough daylight the street lamp would be shorted and
so switched off
(c) You could simply put a manual switch in parallel with a motor to turn it
off
In all these cases the bay pass switch would have to have some form of protective
resistor in series with it to prevent the by pass circuit overloading
.
